Win a signed copy of Building From Ashes!

So sorry about the lateness of this post. If you didn’t see on Facebook, I was out of town last weekend and wasn’t able to announce the winner of the signed copy of A Fall of Water. The winner was Linda (frllarson in the comments). Congratulations, Linda! Please email me your info and I’ll get your book out to you.

Our next faaaabulous prize (please imagine Bob Barker’s voice there) is a signed copy of Building From Ashes! Please keep in mind, I have not redone the paperback cover yet, so this is the old cover, not the new one. Here is a picture of the actual, factual book:

Ashes book
A paperback! Signed! By me! (Sorry, if I could get Carwyn to sign it, I would.)

I will NOT be out of town this weekend, so the contest will run through Friday. I WILL be out of town next week for the RT convention where I’ll be listening to lots of smart people and signing books on Thursday at the Book Expo from noon to four pm. If you are in the Kansas City area, please consider coming out to RT! I’d love to meet you.

Rules for the contest are the same. Leave me a comment. Say hi. Tell me your favorite vampire or something. (Doesn’t have to be one of mine!) Contest will run till Friday and is open to international participants. Good luck!

This is perhaps my favourite books of the Elemental’s, I would love a signed copy!! Pretty please πŸ™‚

  2. Beth says:

Hello!!!!! I own this e-book, but I’d love a signed copy!!! I could not possibly pick a favorite vamp from all the series I read, but I ADORE Carwyn, He’d definitely be a contender for the top spot in my opinion. and Tenzin? LOVE LOVE LOVE

  3. Victoria S. says:

Hi Elizabeth! I would love a copy of Building from Ashes – I think Carwyn has been my favorite all along throughout the Elemental Mysteries. πŸ˜‰ Otherwise, as for favorite vampire…can it be a non-vampire?! I’d have to say I love Alexia from the Parasol Protectorate series. πŸ˜‰

  4. jennifer jones says:

Thanks for the chance to win my favorite vampire is Zsadist BDB bet you thought i was gonna say Edward lol Thanks

  5. Alysia Kurtz says:

Hi. This is Alysia (hoping to win a signed copy), while I am anxiously waiting your new book to come out I have gotten quite wrapped up in the Midnight Fire Series by Kaitlyn Davis….

    (Also posted on FB)

    1. Tink says:

I agree…and that’s saying something since I generally am disappointed in how female vamps are written. That I like Tenzin and B is a huge thumbs up for the writing of this series. Carwyn is still the man, though. Gio is intriguing but Carwyn….grrrr. πŸ˜‰

  6. Amie says:

Love your characters. Carwyn is my favorite by a very decent margin. I am trying to talk my husband into that name for our next baby, slow steady progress is being made.

  7. Cyndi Montgomery says:

Hi Elizabeth! πŸ˜„ Couldn’t pass up my chance to win a hard copy of one of your books! I love how strong the women are and I’ve never laughed out loud so many times while reading. Your character interactions are so real and humorous.

  8. DST says:

I have to say thank you to you. I had completely sworn off vampire books (darn you Stephanie Meyers!) but because of an Amazon recommended reading post (guess I owe them thanks too!) I picked up A Hidden Fire. I’m so glad I did!

    1. Nina says:

I still shake my head at glittering vampires in the sun lol but I liked the twilight books, the movies ruined it for me.

    2. JSeth says:

Same here! I understand/like how changing the vampire mythology makes it even better and unique (like in the Elemental World). However, there is absolutely NO reason that vampires should sparkle! I too wasn’t sure if I wanted to read a vampire book again, but I’m glad I picked up A Hidden Fire.

  9. shanese vickers says:

I’m reading the series AGAIN while I wait anxiously for Baojias story. It just so happens I’m on this book. Would love to win a signed copy. Are you ever planning a signing in Las Vegas? My favorite vampire would have to be Deirdre I love her attitude I really hope you have plans for her own book would really love to see her story.

  10. Jessica says:

I love your books, I can’t wait for more in this series. Would love to have a signed copy. I have to say I fell in love with the whole group of them but love Geo and Carwyn with their bantering. I’m looking forward to see what becomes of Ben as well. πŸ™‚

  11. Deb says:

Hi!!!! Well, I would have to say my favorite vamp is probably Carwyn, mainly for his wonderful sense of humor as well as his caring nature. ! Hope you have a good week!!!

  12. Marisa B. says:

I love your elemental books, have read the 4 elemental mysteries books 3 times each and about to start on my second go of Building from Ashes. I love all of your characters, you put such detail into them and make them seem like they are your own family

  13. cathie says:

Hi, I would love a signed copy of this book. I so can’t wait for Blood and sand to come out. And my favorite vampire will always be Gio. πŸ˜‰

  14. mokkelke says:

i like this cover just as much as the new one πŸ˜‰
hmm favorite vamp. would it be greedy to say ALL of them? hihi each one has sides to him that are very appealing. tho gio (he has redeemed himself now) had one or two moments i wanted to take a sledgehammer and put one on his nogging. but he groveled enough so i put it away.

  15. Mindi says:

I love Carwyn and I love your writing! I recommend your books to everyone and I hope that they have taken my advice! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents! Yes, I’m using many exclamation points! πŸ™‚

  16. Jen says:

So far this book has been my favorite of all. I absolutely LOVE Carwyn! His humor, his willingness to give his all to those he loves. Oh yes! Of course I haven’t read the latest book…yet…it’s in my queue waiting for me to get through a a series I’ve been reading.

I do hope we get more Carwyn in the future πŸ™‚

  17. Lindsey Lanning says:

Your books are the only ones I keep stored in my Kindle, everything else gets sent back to the cloud πŸ™‚ I would have to say that Tenzin is my face vampire!

  18. Karen Leach says:

You know… after reading Jen’s response above, Carwyn is pretty awesome lol! I love Gio’s character more because of his intensity and combustibility (fanning self) ;). I know a lot of fans mention your greatness as a writer, but I have to get my two-cent’s worth in and let you know that your books are addicting and take the romance genre to another level for me. Too many author’s don’t take chances with their characters and there is a lot of the cookie-cutter predictability in their story lines. I look forward to never knowing what is going to happen when I read your books. Keep ’em coming! πŸ™‚

  19. Samantha nicholson says:

I love your books and would love to win a signed copy more than anything. My favourite would be between Gio and carwyn I love carwyns sense of humor and his caring side but Gio is the dark mysterious sexy vampire so very hard to pic just one

  20. nichola knowles says:

I adore your books and have read them many times. they always make me smile laugh and cry but i never tirer of reading. as for vampires it would have to be carwyn and havetenzin πŸ™‚ plus Christian poe from Dannika Darks mageri series. xx

  21. Howard Lowery says:

Favorite vampire? Easy, Gio and Bea. Yes, you think that is two vampires but even before all the blood sharing, they were two halves of a whole. Now that they are bonded with blood – two individuals but one enormously powerful vampire. And I still want to see a book with them and Carwyn & Briget. But that’s just me.

  22. Karla Clow says:

Please please please enter me!!!! I love the strength of your female characters! They are so facinating. Oh, and the mentioning of my hometown is awesome!

  23. slf2 says:

Favorite vampire? Gio of course! He is the shiznit! I love this series with a fierce passion! The unique spin that you created on the vampire world in these books was nothing short of brilliant! I was thoroughly engrossed with Gio, Beatrice, Tenzin and Carwin! Winning ANY of these books would make my year! Kudos Elizabeth Hunter on writing such wonderful books!

  24. Andrea Shubin says:

Hi Elizabeth! Glad you enjoyed Coachella! Used to go there every year during the Citrus Festival, and have some good memories. My Favorite is still Carwyn! Your book about him was awesome! Congrats, and thanks for being such a talented author!

  25. Becky W. says:

Hi. I just wanted to say how much I love your books. I actually just re-read all of them about a week ago and I loved them as much the second time around as I did the first time around. Thanks for the great stories!!!!

  26. Lisa Goodhew says:

I vote Carwyn as my favourite, he kind of holds everything together. Fantastic character! Looking forward to Blood and Sand.

  27. Angela Keay says:

I would love to own this next chapter in the series, as I was unable to purchase it through itunes in the UK. My favourite vampire would have to be Carwyn, who’s character lead to the inspiration for my latest artist bear I just completed. Keep up the wonderful writing x

  28. Kristina says:

Elizabeth, I love your books. The Characters are all brilliant in their own way. I love Baojia, and Gio for obvious reasons, swoon! Would love to win this book. Good luck with your future work, I for one will be buying them.

  29. Felisha Bergmans says:

I like di Spada the best. Disciplined and calculating. He and Tenzin would have been a formidable team as mercenaries. I also really like Ava Delaney from the series by Claire Farrell and though they’re immortal and not vampire I enjoyed reading about William and Bryn from the Eden trilogy, written by Nicole Williams

  30. Helen L. says:

I love Gio and Beatrice! Best vampire couple! Can’t wait for the next elemental book! Thanks for the giveaway. It would be awesome to get a signed copy!

  31. Natasha Shea says:

Just love your books.. ALL. Of them.. Have never been disappointed and eagerly await new releases.. Write quicker!!! πŸ˜‰

  32. Kelly says:

Well needless to say I love all your work. As you have nothing I have not read yet available I am reading The Cat and Bones books. Loving Spade as a Vamp right now. This will change as I know I will love Baojia.

  33. sharonchalk says:

wow this is the only book so far of yours that I haven’t read so winning it would be great,I got into a vampire mood last week and started the 4 book series that Eliza Gayle wrote and really got into so I put Carwyn on TBR but hey if Im lucky I may win it before I finish the 4 book series I am reading now, that would be perfect !!!!!

  34. Crystal Marie says:

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm I would have to say that my favorite vampire would be Carwyn. There is just something about him, that since I read A Hidden Fire, I kept hoping that he would have his own book (And I’m crazy excited that he did!) I would love a signed copy of it!!

  35. Jamie Smothers says:

I stumbled across your books on Amazon, looking for something new to read. I saw A Hidden Fire had good reviews and gave it a try based on the star rating. I don’t even think I read any of the reviews. Since then, I have read every book, and I tell every reader I know about your books and have gotten several of my freinds and my mother hooked on your books. Thank you for your stories! I love them all!

  36. itsamia71 says:

I’m just about to finish A Fall of Water & I’m totally addicted to your books! The world & characters you’ve created are amazing & I’ve loved everything I’ve read so far. So I guess Building From Ashes is next for me, which I’m really excited about as I adore Carwyn. I’d find it hard to pick a favourite of your vampires tho, I love them all so much. My heart always has a place for Eric Northman too!!!

  37. Elaina M. Roberts says:

Wow, tough question! It’s hard to choose a favorite because they are each so distinctive. Gio, Carwyn, Baojia, and Terry…can I pick them all? But I think, of them all, I’d have to go with Tenzin. Her story has got to have some incredible moments as well as some really devastating ones but she’s emerged through them all with her own sense of honor.

  38. Ana Beckett says:

I would love to own a copy of this book. I have it on my ereader, but am trying to get my mom to read them too and she perfers paperbacks (although of course I would want it back). My fav vampires would have to be Baojia and Vlad from Jeaniene Frost. I just love a man with some mystery. πŸ™‚

    1. elizhunter says:

Melanie! You are the winner of the signed paperback of Building From Ashes! Please contact me by email and let me know your mailing address so I can get the book out to you on Monday. Congratulations!

  39. Mary Anne Talisayon says:

I have read a lot of books in my life but nothing compares to the Elemental Mysteries!!!! Carwyn is my favorite character because of his cute and weird self!! He always knows how to lighten the mood when things are tough and I would love a copy of this book!!

  40. katmoore2012 says:

Gio is my favorite vampire of yours. I like how the uniqueness of his gift makes existence in today’s world a challenge for him at times.

  41. Sue Padgett says:

Hi Elizabeth! Travel safely to KC and have a great time with everyone, wish I was going! So hard to pick a fav, but if I HAD to I gotta go with my first love, Gio, but Wrath from BDB as well as Matthew Gabriel Philippe Bertrand Sebastien de Clerkont from A Discovery of Witches would do nicely (most nicely). So many vampires, so little time :).

  42. Kristin Allen says:

I love Gio. It is the only vampire series that really speaks to me, they exist among us and show a side that I for one would like to believe. There are so many wonderful moments in the books but it is the humor that Carwyn brought that was so much fun…..

  43. Carol Ann Kerry-Green says:

So glad Elemental Fire came up as a recommendation on Amazon. Have read them all a couple of times, and am even talking about your books to my local sf group tonight – maybe I can convert some of them into reading them – πŸ™‚ Anyways, keep up the good work and look forward to the next one.

  44. Carol Woolnoth says:

My favourite has to be Gio and Beatrice. I know that is 2 but it is hard to think of them apart. One of the reasons that I so enjoy your books is that you write such strong female characters. They are not dependent on a male or scatterbrained, hopeless, and helpless females. I love Tenzin too … and Terry and Gemma … so hard to choose.
I have only read your books on Kindle, so a ‘real’ signed copy book would be wonderful.
Please keep writing, your books are really worth waiting for

  45. Alacia says:

I love your series! It is such a unique take on an overdone subject… It’s refreshing to read something from an author that is truly original and dedicated to the depth of its characters and love

  46. Sarah says:

For me you’re number one author and your vampires top my list, with Bea and Gio at the top of that, how predictable am I! Baojia comes a close second but if I had to pick someone else’s I think my swoonworthy hero is Curran although he’s not a vampire! I hope you have an amazing time at RT, so many of my favourite authors are going to be there, will try out that teleportation device again πŸ™‚

  47. Marnie Surles says:

You seem to be so busy all the time. When do you sleep? I don’t know how you do it. Oh and favorite vampire, at the moment, has to be Terry. After Waterlocked, I am completely in love. Gotta love a strong alpha male.

  48. Janka Dustan says:

Hi Elizabeth!! Well my definately favourite vampire is Gio (and yes Gio – I’m offering…) – I cried after I finished reading A fall of water – the whole story was fantastic and I read all four books within a week and had nothing else to read (sniff) so I had to buy another book of yours (The Genius and The Muse – what a wonderful story). I havent read Building from Ashes yet and definately would love to win it so I can continue reading about the great vampires of yours.
Sending greetings from Southwest of England GB xxxx

  49. Serena says:

I want to win!!!!! My current (it is always changing depending on the series I am reading) vamp at the moment is Samantha Moon. I am only two books in but so far, so good. πŸ™‚ I am eagerly awaiting your next book. OF COURSE, I have to reread everything before it comes out so I am fresh minded! LOVE YOU!~

  50. JSeth says:

Also, I just wanted to add that I was 😦 when the Elemental Mystery series ended and thought that Building from Ashes wouldn’t be as good, but I found myself liking it even better… I liked that it wasn’t just the same story from a different perspective, but a completely new story tying in with the overall issue in the Elemental World.

    1. Tink says:

They’re a great couple aren’t they? I loved Gio and B as a couple, but there’s just something so sweet about Carwyn and Brigid. I kind of envision Carwyn as Adam Baldwin, ala Jayne Cobb from Firefly just with a sense of humor. A guy who can kick butt when he needs to, fiercely protective of those he cares about with a soft squishy side. 😍

  51. Pam says:

Building from Ashes was an awesome story! I love Carwyn! I’m so curious about his children, He is so carefree. What circumstances would inspire him to make such a commitment to those individuals who became his beloved children? Ioan, Deirdre and Tavish have been explained but what of Gemma, Isabel, Max, Guy, Daniel and the rest? There are so many stories yet to be told. I can’t wait to see where you go next.

  52. Jessica says:

I really loved your Elemental Mysteries series. Very interesting take on vampires.

I actually havent read too many vampire novels, but of the ones I have read Giovanni or Eric Northman from the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. They are both amazing.

  53. waterbendingcat says:

I tweet at you a good bit, it’s an unhealthy obsession I feel and probably why I shouldn’t follow people that I really enjoy on twitter. Because then I just feel like it’s an open forum for crazy everyday talk. Anyways, HELLO! I think it’s absolutely wonderful you’re giving away signed copies (this is why I love supporting authors like yourself, because you actually seem like real people and it’s all good and I just wish more people were aware of your general awesomeness). As an avid vampire novel reader I fell in love with Lestat at an early age and that love has been pretty strong throughout the ages. So he’s probably my favorite, but out of your series it would definitely be either Tenzin or Carwyn. But yes, thank you for your continued contributions to my kindle. It awaits your next book patiently!

  54. Tristine R. says:

I don’t read many vampire books but I got Hidden Fire off of a Pixel email and went for it. Then I devoured that series. I am a Carwyn fan! Gotta’ love the fellow redhead πŸ™‚

  55. Iran says:

So when are Brigid and Beatrice meeting? It’s very neat that these two “women” of Carwyn and BFF Gio are so talented and unique in their elements. I’m sure they would form a splendid pair against anyone in spite of being so young in the vampire world. They will be giving both their mates a run for their money in no time! Now if only Tenzin would find someone that would warm her heart and make it skip a beat…I have a feeling that Ben will somehow be involved in this ;). Keep up the great work!

  56. semivivus says:

As much as I like your books, I have to say my favorite vampire is none from the elemental series. Do not get me wrong, I do love Carwyn, but I have a soft spot for the classics. That is why I perceive John William Polidori’s “The Vampyre” from 1819 to be my favorite.
It is interesting how the concept of Vampires has changes dramatically in some aspects and has stayed unaltered in others. Polidori’s “Vampyre” is cheesy and not as complexly written as your books but is is the granddaddy of all vampire stories. It is the age of this story that for some weird reason makes me think of Carwyn’s age and why I felt like updating you on the subject of my favorite vampire. πŸ™‚
Am a sucker for them classics and am sure your series will end up among them πŸ˜‰

  57. Marianne says:

I got to thinking and the first vampire, other than Dracula πŸ˜‰ – was TV’s Barnabas in the 60’s. Not my fav, mind you, but first I became familiar with. With so much good writing out there on vamps, hard to think ONE would be favorite. Love Allyssa Day’s Warriors; Patricia Frost’s Mercy and her vamp hubby; Maryjanice Davidson’s queen Betsy and her vamp Sinclair (so funny). the hunky vamps from SO MANY SERIES >> and who can leave out Christine Feehan’s lovely, lovely men πŸ™‚

    1. Sue Padgett says:

As a relative newbie to vampire lit I appreciate your references to other vampires/authors! Will be hunting on Good Reads today! Thanks πŸ™‚

  58. Sue Kraemer says:

Hey, well, I survived vacation without Building from Ashes!! It was tough, but I did it!! πŸ˜‰
I’m hoping that this note with get it to me faster, because you KNOW I need more of my favorite vamps, especially Carwyn!!! πŸ˜‰
    Write on, babe!!

  59. Charissa A. says:

I found A Hidden Fire through my Kindle. OMG! I absolutely loved it and have been reading them nonstop since! So glad that I found your books. My friends have really enjoyed them too, as I just had to share. I would love to win an autographed copy! My friends would be so jealous!! πŸ˜‰

  60. Maria says:

I really would love a signed copy!! Lets just say that this series is the first series on my Kindle that I had to actually purchase because I just had to know what happened! Love all the characters especially Tenzin!

  61. JackieV says:

I was given a Kindle last year for my birthday and was looking for something different to read. I put a Hidden Fire on my Kindle late last year and started reading it the week before last. I have since finished the whole series and wish there was more and I’m sorry I took so long to read it. How anyone could not fall in love with Gio – i just don’t know. He was a wonderfully written character.
